Art Safari Sketchfest 2026
I am thrilled to have been asked to be a tutor for Art Safari’s Sketchfest 26 in Woodbridge this year. I am holding two workshops on Friday 31st 2026.
Half Day Workshop: Perfectly Imperfect: Finding Beauty in the Flow
Art Haven | 10:00–13:00
This playful, expressive workshop invites you to loosen up, let go of perfection, and enjoy the process of painting freely with acrylics! Beginning with relaxed warm-up exercises, you’ll shake off overthinking, embrace happy accidents, and reconnect with intuitive mark-making. You’ll then create a loose still life inspired by seasonal florals, plants, and everyday objects, responding to colour, shape, and feeling rather than aiming for accuracy. Throughout the session, you’ll be encouraged to work instinctively, celebrate imperfection, and discover the beauty that emerges when creativity is allowed to unfold naturally. Suitable for complete beginners and experienced artists alike, this workshop offers a welcoming space to explore, experiment, and re-energise your creative practice.
Materials provided:
Acrylic paints, A2 cartridge paper, brushes, and palettes.
Please bring:
Mixed media for embellishing once dry (charcoal, pastels, wax crayons, oil pastels, coloured pencils)
Marker pens or felt tips
An apron or old shirt
Comfortable clothes that can get paint on them (acrylic paint is permanent once dry)
Comfortable shoes (much of the workshop will be standing)
Workshop: Sketchbook Play Notes: Set Yourself Free!
Art Safari C | 14:30–15:30
Brigitte invites you to slow down, look closely, and sketch the world around you with curiosity and ease. Using your sketchbook as a space for visual notes, we’ll focus on noticing rather than perfect drawing, capturing the essence of people, trees, boats, and buildings in simple, expressive marks. We’ll begin with gentle warm-up exercises to loosen the hand and quiet the inner critic before moving into observational sketching. I’ll show you simple ways to start so you can relax into drawing and enjoy the process.
Please bring:
A sketchbook with plenty of spare pages or loose paper
Portable mark-making materials such as pencils, charcoal, pastels, oil pastels, watercolours, or gouache.
If using wet media: brushes and a water container
Come and join me by the River Deben - book here!

Wyken Vineyards Winter Exhibition
I am thrilled to have been chosen to exhibit alongside other local artists at Wyken Vineyard’sLeaping Hare Restaurant Winter Exhibition. This is a place I have been visiting for years and I go to the farmer’s market there every Saturday so this feels very special to me, in fact an honour!
The cafe and restaurant serve the most delicious locally sourced food and are sited in an extraordinarily beautifully 400 year old gloriously beamed barn. I really can’t wait to see my paintings hanging on these ancient walls! The cafe is a no booking venue but the staff provide a great waiting list service allowing you to wander the Countrystore while your table is prepared. They call you once its ready. The restaurant generally requires booking.
And if that’s not enough to entice you here, Wyken has so much more to offer. A stunning RHS partner garden surrounding a beautiful old manor house owned by Kenneth and Carla Carlisle. A beautiful vineyard which you can book a tour around and a country store filled with beautiful carefully curated artisan items, perfect as gifts or even better as a treat for yourself. It offers anything from a thoughtful selection of books, homewares, vases, lighting, beautiful clothing, kitchenware, wine, chocolates to my favourite; every conceivable brush you could need. Bottle brushes, scrubbing brushes, dustpan and brushes! Honestly, I think it might be impossible to leave here with out a little something!
Please come and make a day of it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
5th December - 24th December 2024
Open 10am - 5.30pm Wednesday to Sunday
From 6.30pm until close of service on Friday & Saturday evening
